Blizzard has outlined WoW Forever’s PvP progression system, including weekly-capped ranks, Honor gear upgrades, battleground reward changes and seasonal journey tasks that award Legacy Points.

Blizzard has detailed how player-vs.-player progression will work in World of Warcraft: Forever. The system separates Honor from Rank Points, keeps the familiar path toward High Warlord and Grand Marshal, and gives players seasonal tasks that can continue to be completed in later seasons.

Honor and Rank Points

PvP progression has two currencies with different roles:

  • Honor is earned through PvP activity, including defeating players, completing battlegrounds and completing relevant PvP quests.
  • Rank Points come from battlegrounds and relevant PvP quests and advance a character through the PvP ranks.

Blizzard says it reviewed battleground Honor rewards to make acquisition more consistent across maps, rather than leaving players feeling pushed toward Alterac Valley for the best Honor efficiency. Highlighted battlegrounds will award increased Honor during their holiday weeks; they also provide an additional Rank Point boost.

Rank advancement leads through the original game’s familiar PvP ranks, culminating in High Warlord for Horde characters and Grand Marshal for Alliance characters. Rank Points will have a weekly cap.

Players can check their current rank, Rank Points and rank-eligible rewards from the Player vs. Player tab in the Character Pane.

PvP gear and rank rewards

Honor can purchase both blue-quality and epic-quality PvP gear. Epic gear is obtained by upgrading the corresponding blue item with an Emboldened Seal. Those seals have rank requirements, so reaching higher ranks remains necessary for the upgrades.

Blizzard also says the PvP item selection includes new and reworked options for specializations that previously lacked appropriate choices. Shaman, for example, will have healer, melee and caster PvP sets.

The announced rank reward milestones are:

Rank Reward
1 Tabard
2 PvP trinket
3 Cloaks
4 Necklace
5 Combat potions
6 Tabard
7 Battle Standard
8 Epic bracers / epic belt upgrade token
9 Epic boots upgrade token
10 Epic gloves upgrade token
11 Mounts
12 Epic legs / epic shoulders upgrade token
13 Epic chest / epic helm upgrade token
14 Epic weapons

Seasonal journeys and Legacy Points

Each PvP season includes a journey of weekly tasks. Completing these tasks awards Honor and Rank Points, while three tasks in each season award a Legacy Point.

Because the tasks are tied to the Legacy System, Blizzard says they will remain available to finish in future seasons. That means players who do not complete every seasonal journey task during its original season can return to those Legacy Point objectives later.
