On the roster, but not priced
Improved Shadow Bolt+20% shadow damage on the next four shadow spells after a Shadow Bolt crit. Its value swings with crit luck and how many casters ride each proc, so any single number here would be a guess.
Improved Faerie FirePhysical-hit support on the target. Its value ranges from nothing to a small fortune depending on who in the raid is still under the computed hit target that week.
Sunder Armor−2,600 armor at five stacks (plus Curse of Recklessness on top). Already applied in effectively every parse on this page, so there is no extra gain left to price — just do not let the stacks fall off.
Vampiric TouchThe Shadow Priest mana battery. It pays out in healer, Warlock, and Mage mana rather than damage-meter DPS, which is exactly why the spot survives every tier list.
How the TBC DPS rankings work
Every ranking on this page comes straight from the Warcraft Logs v2 API for the TBC Anniversary realms - no hand-tuned tier placements. For each spec and each boss we average the top 100 DPS parses, then average those per-boss numbers across the raid, so one padded fight cannot carry a spec up the tier list.
The Black Temple & Hyjal board refreshes automatically every week after the raid reset. Earlier raids are frozen where they ended: Karazhan and Gruul's Lair & Magtheridon show end-of-Phase-1 logs, and Serpentshrine Cavern & Tempest Keep shows end-of-Phase-2 logs, so each tier list reflects the gear that was actually available at the time.
Why each raid keeps its own tier list
Parses logged today in an old raid come from players in Tier 6 gear, which buries how specs really stacked up in that phase. Pinning every raid to its own phase partition keeps the Karazhan rankings honest to Phase 1 and the SSC & TK rankings honest to Phase 2.
Rankings are not raid spots
The DPS chart measures damage output, not raid value. Specs like Arms Warrior, Balance Druid, and Shadow Priest earn their slots through Blood Frenzy, Improved Faerie Fire, and mana return - check the class guides before benching a support spec over a bar chart.
Reading early-phase numbers
Fresh phases start with thin samples and undergeared raids, so the live Black Temple & Hyjal board moves week to week as guilds gear into Tier 6. Frozen boards no longer move: their phase partitions closed when the next phase opened.
TBC tier list questions
What is the best DPS class in TBC Phase 3?
The current board shows the latest order. Choose a boss to compare a particular encounter, and check the class guides for the buffs and utility each spec brings.
How often are these rankings updated?
The Black Temple & Hyjal rankings are pulled from the Warcraft Logs API automatically every week after the Tuesday reset. The snapshot date on each panel shows exactly when its data was captured.
Why do the Karazhan rankings look different from Black Temple?
Each raid's tier list is locked to its own phase, so it reflects the talents, gear, and hit caps of that era. Arcane Mage topped Karazhan in Phase 1 gear, while Beast Mastery Hunter and Fury Warrior pull ahead as armor penetration and weapon upgrades scale into Tier 6.
Is a DPS tier list the same as raid viability?
No. Raid buffs, debuffs, and utility affect the value of a raid spot. Use the rankings to compare damage output, then check the class guides and raid composition guide for the support each spec brings.
