Cooking starts every Forever camp. The fire itself is a Cooking craft, and without a campfire nearby no profession object can be placed — the intro quest text says it directly: "no camp is complete without a campfire."
Campfire skills, feature counts and food numbers below come from the beta build and Blizzard's BlizzCon slides; they can still change before launch.
The campfire chain
| Kit | Cooking | Camp features | Cooldown |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic Campfire Kit | 1 | 3 additional features | 5 min |
| Journeyman Campfire Kit | 140 | 5 additional features | 5 min |
| Expert Campfire Kit | 220 | 10 additional features | 5 min |
Players who sit or craft nearby for 1 minute gain the benefits of the other camp features. Crafting a basic kit consumes Simple Wood and requires Flint and Tinder as a tool. Blizzard's recap describes the upgrade path the same way: Cooks learn campfires that hold five or 10 objects.
The Journeyman and Expert upgrades come from Blueprint recipes. Blizzard says advanced campsite objects drop from specific dungeon bosses as Blueprints; the recap does not name the bosses.
Cooking also places the Iron Oven (Cooking 300), the station required for the most advanced cooking recipes. It is a camp feature like any other: it needs a campfire nearby and shares the one-hour feature cooldown.
Food is the other half
Eating one of these foods for 10 seconds gives Well Fed for 15 minutes. The BlizzCon slide showed three foods across the leveling range:
| Food | Cooking | Well Fed |
|---|---|---|
| Tasty Raptor Bites | 25 | +1 Intellect |
| Giant Scrambled Eggs | 175 | +10 Stamina |
| Bat Hachee | 275 | +20 Intellect |
The same slide's Well Fed tooltip added 5% increased experience from kills, which lines up with Blizzard's recap note that crafted food can grant a small experience bonus alongside stat boosts. Camps are also where Blizzard expects you to refresh food buffs.
Your camp job
- Put the fire down. A camp only exists where a campfire is placed, so Cooking decides whether your group can camp at all.
- Upgrade when you can. Five features instead of three changes what a group can cover; ten lets a raid-sized group stack several buffs and a workstation or two.
- Cook while the group rests. The fire doubles as a cooking station, and food buffs get refreshed at camp.
- Master Chef (Professions Legacy) gives your cooking recipes a 10–50% chance to create an extra result; Gourmand stretches food effect duration by 33–100%.
Watch out for
- The fire has a 5-minute cooldown, while the profession features placed on it share a 1-hour cooldown.
- Camps in the middle of town aren't the point; the intro quest sends you into the wilderness before you can test your first object.
